Welcome!

Welcome! Or as we say in Scotland, failte!

I want to start off on the right foot with you: I've never said failte in my life and neither has any other Scottish person that I ken. I was trying to lure you in with "och aye the noo" Scottish "vibes" but it's poor pater. I dinny speak Gaelic and I dinny have ginger hair or a kilt. Sorry to burst your bubble.  I do however make barry candles and I want you to enjoy them as much as I love making them!

In January 2025, I was lying in ma scratcher and I was fair scunnered. Not just with the dreich Scottish weather but with my work/life situation. I'm a single maw and trying to find the balance between work and child care isnae half a struggle at times. Working for myself and being my own boss is the ultimate dream.  It was at this moment the idea for Bonnie Glow just walked into my coupon. Having completed a candle course and doing a muckle amount of testing, it was time to put Bonnie Glow into action!

So what in the name of the wee man is Bonnie Glow? Do you ever notice how Scotland is regularly represented as a stereotype? It really rips my knitting.  According to mainstream media, and with no thanks to Mel Gibson, we are seen as a bunch of kilt wearing, gruff speaking, inaudible radges who say things like "och aye the noo". I can assure you that no one in the history of Scotland (including Big Mel) has ever said that phrase. Actually, Willy The Groundskeeper from The Simpsons has definitely said it. I rest my case!

Bonnie Glow Candles are inspired by Scotland; the real Scotland! I want people to appreciate the fun that we have with our language, traditions and culture. I have a thousand ideas for candles representing Scotland in this unique way. I am currently testing the following for new candles:

Yer Scratcher (Fresh Linen scent)

Taps Aff (Suntan Lotion scent)

Big Man (Dupe of Sauvage aftershave)

Dreich (Fresh, Marine, Rain scent)

And those are just the tip of the iceberg! I am delighted to bring to you my Signature Range including: A Wee Dram, Granny's Rhubarb Crumble, Lang May Yer Lum Reek and Mairi's Wedding.

My candles come in a beautiful Amber Rose Tins and burn for 30 hours. That's a lot of time to coorie in, one of my favourite things to do! So chum me on a wee tour of the real Scotland with Bonnie Glow Candles: a wee bit o' magic in every wick!
