Dreich

They say that nothing in life is certain. Whoever they are, they clearly have not visited Scotland in the summer time because grey, wet, miserable weather is an absolute certainty! We have a word for this sort of weather: Dreich. It's one of my favourite Scottish words. Even saying it feels miserable!

Many of my summer times were spent looking out of the windae at Dreich weather, wishing I could be somewhere hot and sunny. But now that I'm an auld woman, I love dreich weather. One of my favourite things to do is go for a walk after the rain through a forest or woodland. All around there are the most beautiful green scents. Its mossy and earthy and completely unique; a perfect blend for a Bonnie Glow Candle!
