Collection: Signature Range: Handmade Scottish Candles

Scottish Summer: now there's a heid scratcher! One minute it's pouring doon, the next it's sunnier than Spain! It's a bit of a rollercoaster to say the least but it gives us something to moan about! It's also given me inspiration for my beautiful new range of scented candles!

Scented Candles with Scottish Charm

My handmade scented candles are inspired by Scotland. Not the stereotypical tartan tin nonsense! I am inspired by authentic Scotland with it's wonderful traditions, culture and often hilarious language:

bonnieglow.myshopify.com – Bonnie Glow: Scents of Scotland

Bonnie Glow scented candles evoke nostalgia, cosiness and comfort and capture fun parts of our quirky heritage. They come in four beautiful fragrances:

A Wee Dram - the distinguished smell of whisky will add a touch of sophistication to your space. A rich, peaty fragrance with a touch of smokiness and vanilla.

Granny's Rhubarb Crumble - this is inspired by my Granny Morag's love of Rhubarb and wonderful childhood memories of her baking filling the house with the most incredible aromas. Cosiness and comfort are baked right in. A sweet fragrance with notes of Baked Apple, Rhubarb, Cinnamon and Vanilla.

Lang May Yer Lang Reek. This is a smoky, masculine fragrance that conjures the cosy feeling of needing to coorie in by the roaring open fire when there is a Scottish storm blowing outside. It's blawin' a hoolie! Notes of Clove, Tobacco and Leather.

Mairi's Wedding. This beautiful floral, fruity fragrance perfectly captures the vitality of a Scottish wedding. Grab your pals and make your way to the dance floor for some wild ceilidh dancing! Notes of Pear, Lemon, Iris and Jasmine.

I am lucky enough to live in Scotland's beautiful capital city, Edinburgh. I was brought up among its seven hills and quirky characters. I take inspiration from our many quirks. As soon as there's a glimmer of sunshine, everywhere you go, whether its Princes Street or Arthur Seat, there will be topless men parading around proudly. This is not just true of Edinburgh; anywhere in Scotland from Aberdeen to Arbroath will be filled with these brave, topless eejits! I am currently testing a scented candle in honor of this timeless tradition. It is called Taps Aff and it smells like suntan lotion. Not that the fellies ever wear sunscreen! As my maw would say, they have a face like a well skelped erse! To any non-Scottish folks who need a translator, a well skelped erse is a smacked bottom!

The Scottish have funny words for everything. We call our bed, a scratcher and you guessed it, I am testing a candle in honor of this! It always makes me laugh so look out for a Fresh Linen scented candle called Yer Scratcher.

Many of these funny words are put in to practise when one is describing the weather. If you hear someone say, it's fair dreich oot there, this means it's damp, grey and dull. All too often it precedes pishing doon weather. It's the complete opposite of Taps Aff weather. Although, don't be completely surprised if you encounter a male in the rain with his tap aff. He'll no doubt have had a few libations. Or swallies. That has given me some inspiration for a new candle called A Few Swallies. I already make A Wee Dram but a few swallies will be less sophisticated, it could have the scent of Buckfast. Actually, I think I'll just call it Glasgow.

So there you have it: Scotland in a scented Candle! I'm fair chuffed that you stumbled upon my colourful wee corner of the internet. Have a wee swatch at my scented candles and hopefully it will give you a sense, or indeed a scent of what Scotland is aw' aboot! And if you're a fellow Scot, I hope you have resonated with my experience of our beautiful, radge homeland! Why not treat yourself to a wee Bonnie Glow and light up like a beautiful Scottish sunrise. Och aye the noo!

A Wee Tip

All of my beautiful Rose Gold Tins have a 30 hour burn time. I recommend that you burn the candle for a 4 hour cycle. Gie the wick a wee trim when it cools doon, before the next burn.
